How PreConstruct keeps one general contractor’s bids, documents, and subcontractor lists separate from every other company on the platform, and what happens to what you upload.

What we do
Company isolation
Every project, document, scope, bid sheet, and subcontractor list is tied to your company. Users in one company cannot see or query another company’s data. Platform administration is a separate, restricted role.
Roles inside your company
Two roles: Admin and Estimator. Admins manage users, company settings, and billing. Estimators work projects. Access is checked on the server for every request, not just hidden in the interface.
Documents and AI
Plans and specs are stored in private cloud storage and served through short-lived signed links. AI extraction reads your documents to draft scope for your project; your documents are not used to train models.
Subcontractor access
Bid packages go out through the planroom. Each subcontractor’s link is unique to that bidder and shows only the documents you chose for that package. Subs never see your bid sheet, budget, or other bidders.
Sessions and passwords
Sign-in is by email and password with rate limiting on the login and reset endpoints. Sessions expire. Password resets go through a one-time emailed link.
Transport and hosting
All traffic is over HTTPS. The application and database run on managed cloud infrastructure in the United States with automated backups.
What we do not do
- We do not train AI models on your plans, specs, scope, or pricing.
- We do not share your subcontractor lists or bid history with other companies on the platform.
- We do not sell or rent contact data.
- We do not show subcontractors anything beyond the package you sent them.
Common questions
Where is my data stored?
On managed cloud infrastructure in the United States. Documents live in private object storage; project data lives in a managed PostgreSQL database with automated backups.
Can another general contractor on PreConstruct see my bids?
No. Every record is scoped to your company and every request is checked against that scope on the server.
Does the AI learn from my documents?
It reads them to draft scope and answer questions for your project. It does not train on them.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Bid sheets export to Excel, the budget tracker exports to CSV, and your documents are yours to download at any time. Ask us for a full export if you leave.
Do you have a security questionnaire I can send my IT team?
